A good place to start?

Dipping my toe into the murky depths of classic British bike
ownership, but why a James, and why a Commodore? After all, BSA’s plagiarized Bantam are both plentiful and better supported, and a middleweight thumper is as simple and similarly performing. What about that AMC engine? Slated as unreliable when launched, the Piatti designed 249cc unit, designated the 25T by AMC, was eventually modified by Villiers, but will it be my Commodores undoing?

Without an endless supply of parts and services, this little
exercise should place me onto a path of restoration and not replacement, ease me into the art of roadside repair ingenuity – so far, my ownership of Japanese built machines has left me stranded but once, and that really was my fault – and satisfy my desire to own a two stroke powered bike again.
